Investment area 02

Energy &infrastructure.

Physical markets reward people who understand the asset, the offtake and the counterparties. That is where we start with every energy and industrial opportunity.

Present an opportunity

Our view

We look at energy technology, oil and gas, renewables, trading and supply-chain businesses, and the industrial and infrastructure assets behind them. Many of these opportunities cross borders, which is why our focus spans the Gulf, the UK and Asia-Pacific.

These are capital-intensive, long-term investments. We value clear permits, experienced operators and structures that align sponsors with the capital behind them.

What we look for

  • Credible offtake and supply arrangements
  • Experienced operators with a delivery record
  • Clear status of permits, land rights and licences
  • Realistic capital costs and timelines
  • Structures that align sponsors and investors
  • A clear view of jurisdiction and currency risk

What we avoid

  • Long chains of intermediaries with no direct mandate
  • Commodity offers without verifiable documentation
  • Any request for upfront fees to access a deal
  • Projects with no credible permitting path

How a deal comes together

Energy and infrastructure deals usually start with a teaser and a direct conversation with the sponsor. We then review technical, commercial and legal documentation, often with specialist advisers, before agreeing a structure. That might be equity, a joint venture or a structured position alongside other capital.

Questions

Do you work with intermediaries?

Yes, where they hold a direct mandate from the sponsor and are transparent about fees.

What stage of project do you consider?

From development projects with a clear path to permits through to operating assets. Very early projects are considered selectively.

Do you consider joint ventures?

Yes. Many energy and industrial opportunities are best structured as joint ventures with an operating partner.

Which regions do you focus on?

Mainly the Gulf, the UK and Asia-Pacific. Other regions are considered case by case.
